Recovery and Retaliation

infirmary-vamps-lairPandora paced back and forth in the infirmary of Vamp’s Lair where she was recovering from her wounds.  She had been brutally attacked by three very ancient, very deadly vampires.  She had held her own, but alas… they would have bested her, had it not been for Va’lis, Cassius, and Flavius.  They pulled her out in the nick of time, but they would be dammed to go home empty-handed. They went back in and risked the ancients summoning the rest of their ugly lot.  Against a pack of them, they would have all perished. But Pandora would not be leaving that dreadful mountain without Isonu. Isonu, who was good, just, and fair and so much a reflection of everything she wanted all her sons to be. No… her heart would not allow it.  And somehow they did it.  Isonu was now in my infirmary, recovering, but he had not regained consciousness yet.  This worried me. Worried her.

The one good thing that came out of all that was she now knew the location of their secret hideout.  No longer did the Draconians reside in North Luna, no… they had all but deserted their homes and sought much more guarded area by which to conduct their experiments.  They had come full-force at the Romanus family now, believing — erroneously — that without Marius they’d be weak and vulnerable.

It’s true, Marius’ sentencing had taken a rather large toll on the family.  Armand, who now was acting regent as females cannot serve in the Order of the Talamasca, was overworked and overwhelmed. Pandora, who had not for many centuries been separated from her dear husband, muttered about deeply depressed finding joy only in the arms of her step grandchildren, Armand’s little ones. Va’lis seemed distant and lost in thoughts that surely did not amount to much of nothing good.  Mary and Flavius waited patiently to finalize their marital union, praying that Marius would be free by the time they settle on a date.  Marius is the power of this family, there is no denying that, but if Marius is the head of this family, Pandora is it’s heart.

“I can donate bagful’s of my blood, Doc,” she insisted. “Pandora, you just got your ass handed to you. You would not even be here if it were not for Va’lis and the Praetorians you keep,” I quickly reminded her. A voice could be heard from the entrance to the infirmary, “Still being stubborn I see?”  It was Va’lis. “You may be able to go about your business Va’lis but I cannot, he needs to regain consciousness,” she said, crossing her arms as she turned to face him. “You worry too much. The good doctor here is not a fool, he will not let one of mine die. He values his life,” he said with a smirk. I shook my head at this veiled threat, “Typical.” Va’lis walked towards Pandora and wrapped his arms around her, “Va’lis he needs more blood.”  “Sssshhh, that’s what I am here for. I’ve demanded Merida to come as well and donate. Might as well make herself useful,” he scoffed. “Don’t think you’d have to force her to help her brother, Va’lis.”  He shrugged.

“I heard my name, what lies are you spreading about me now old man?”  Merida walked in.  “Oh good, you’re here. Doc… drain us both,” Va’lis said.  Merida rolled her eyes, “I am only doing this for my baby brother, just so you know.”  Va’lis popped her in the back of her head, “You’ll do it whenever I tell you to do it.”  “Gawd, you’re insufferable!” Merida said as she rolled up her sleeve.  My hope is if we get enough Razele blood in him, he’ll come out of this.  *fingers crossed*
