What is surely to be an interesting opportunity quickens my resolve to continue my work.<\/p>\n
Piper Vale walked back into our lives. But no this wasn’t the same Piper I used to know. \u00a0This was Piper the Vampire. \u00a0Vampirism having stripped her of her witchery, she was now accustomed to her new reality, but was she? \u00a0She talked of the struggles she’s had to work to overcome and how difficult it had been. \u00a0But of course, Ashiok had made her vampire and all but left her to her own devices. Surely, at her own request; she’s stubborn like that. She thought she could handle it on her own, being around vampires the majority of her life. \u00a0But by her own admission, she had underestimated the importance of a good sire. As most of us do, for one reason or another. Now she felt a bit lost, a bit overwhelmed, and certainly a bit lonely. She needed a vampire that could educate her, guide her, mentor her.<\/p>\n
Of course, I offered her to become my protego. \u00a0This was Piper. \u00a0Our Piper. \u00a0I would not leave her to suffer and have her grow to be unstable. \u00a0That’s what happens without a proper sireship. But the memory of Piper would surely evoke other memories, especially for Pandora. She was afterall the woman that brought Brelynn and Saralyn to us, helped us raise them, developed us into actual parents. Everytime we look at her, we’re reminded of what we lost.\u00a0Nothing would ever replace that void for us, for Pandora and I. \u00a0Our daughters were the first legal adoption of our entire family, they were the first chance\u00a0for us to be “normal”, to be “parents” not just sires. \u00a0How long ago that all seems, and now with Brelynn’s rejection, \u00a0my torment is absolute. \u00a0Armand had told me of his encounter with her, of how she now longed to remove the vampire side of her and wished to be left alone. \u00a0The repugnant face she made when Armand called her by her legal name, Brelynn de Romanus. \u00a0Her birth mother Karalynn had been found, and that too proved to be another blow for my daughter. \u00a0Karalynn could not break free of the bond her sire holds upon her. \u00a0She escaped the comfort of our protection to return to him back on Earth. And with her our daughter’s forgiveness and tolerance of our lifestyle.<\/p>\n

So now I broach the subject with Pandora. \u00a0I told her Piper was back, that she needed our help. \u00a0And no sooner did I mention her name, did Pandora say, “Absolutely. Of course we must help her.” but I saw her mind drift… drift off to those times where Saralyn and Brelynn would sneak off to see Piper at night or to hang out with boys that surely gaves us many sleepless nights. \u00a0They were teenagers none the less. \u00a0My wife’s face said it all.<\/p>\n
She looked down and clutched the necklace that had a picture of Saralyn and Brelynn embedded in jade and emeralds, \u00a0one that Va’lis had made for her. \u00a0I looked at her and through our bond, which is both that of lovers eternal and of sire-to-progeny, I saw her heart break once again. \u00a0In that moment I wondered if having Piper around would hurt us more, or help us heal. \u00a0We would have to find out. \u00a0And quickly.<\/p>\n
If I was to be put to death for my crimes by the Order or incarcerated for an extensive period of time, I would have to count on Piper to not only work with Va’lis to admister the serum as needed to those of us that require aid in keeping our masquerade or those that like Cherry desire to have what Pandora and I so briefly had, but also ask her to look out for Pandora, to help her heal from the loss of our beloved daughters and quite possibly from the loss of … well me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What is surely to be an interesting opportunity quickens my resolve to continue my work.
