This was really my house, everyone knew it.\u00a0 I walked forth to take the witness stand and sat down.<\/p>\n<p>The Order deputy came to me and asked me to raise my right hand and repeat after him, \u201cOn the Order\u2019s Laws by the right of government granted us, do you solemnly swear to tell the truth by penalty of perjurious imprisonment as sentenced by the High Council?\u201d His own hand shook as he stood in front of me. I gave him a somber look, \u201cWhat do you think?\u201d\u00a0 Chancellor Grimm interjected, \u201cA simple, \u2018I do\u2019 will suffice.\u201d\u00a0 One day I am going to rip that old vamp\u2019s throat right the fuck out and sever his head from his body as I drink straight from his dead heart. \u201cI do,\u201d I said as I looked straight at him.<\/p>\n<p>Counselor Elisa Windsor represented the Draconians.\u00a0 She was smart, talented, and ruthless.\u00a0 But she too, like the deputy, felt uncomfortable standing in front of me. But then again, most felt that way towards any of House Kemet, for they know we are the progenitors of all bloodlines on Earth.\u00a0 Our dear David Talbot would be the counselor from our side to cross-examine me.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windor:\u00a0 \u201cMs. Revanatziah, if I may call you that madam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Revanatziah: \u201cReeves is what I go by these days. Margaret Reeves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windor:\u00a0 \u201cVery well, Ms. Reeves.\u00a0 Can you tell us how it is that you first came to know that the rogue vampire known as\u2026 Merida Douglas\u2026 had been taken into custody by House Draconis?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cYou mean kidnapped, and if I can correct you.. her name is Merida de Romanus and has been for well over a year.\u00a0 She is the wife of that man right over there\u2026\u201d\u00a0 <em>*<strong>points to Armand<\/strong>*<\/em>\u00a0 \u201c\u2026 one of the sub-seats of House Romanus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cThat still fails to answer the question, Ms. Reeves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cBy Merida herself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cAre you sure it was not by Marius de Romanus first?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201c100%.\u00a0 Merida is bonded to me. She spoke to me with our Blood Bond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cSo Marius de Romanus did not contact you at all to involve you in this matter, then?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cDid I say that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cNo madam you did not. So is that a yes or a no?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cOf course Marius contacted me about this matter, it is his daughter in law.\u00a0 He knew she was bonded to me.\u00a0 Your question was how I FIRST came to know of the abduction. And it was through Merida first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cVery well.\u00a0 Is Merida Douglas of any, at the time, registered bloodline of this Order? And of course if she wasn\u2019t then she is by our laws deemed a rogue, no?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: <em>*<strong>smacks teeth<\/strong>*<\/em> \u201cI think that&#8212;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot:\u00a0 \u201cObjection, Chancellors.\u00a0 Counselor is badgering the witness to provoke a response.\u00a0 That is a known fact part of the records already submitted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor O\u2019Connor: \u201cSustained. Ms. Douglas\u2019 status with the Order at the time of the raid is duly noted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: <em>*<strong>sighs<\/strong>*<\/em> \u201cOkay let\u2019s move on to the night in question.\u00a0 A team was assembled correct?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cYou\u2019re damned right.\u00a0 She is my protego, by our laws, that puts her directly under my protection &#8212; rogue or not &#8212; there is a certain level of due course in dealing with such a situation and certain rights that I have as her current sire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cYes, but by what right does House Romanus have in assisting such a negotiation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: <em>*<strong>leaning forward<\/strong>*<\/em>\u00a0 \u201cI stated them before, she is the wife of Armand de Romanus. Love holds him to her. Are we to expect zero reaction from her own family in her abduction? No. Certainly not.\u00a0 And this is the last time I say it.\u00a0 Her connection is to both my own House Kemet and House Romanus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cYou mean Khayman Amari\u2019s house, certainly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>stands from the chair, eyes glowing a blaze<\/strong>*<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Grimm:\u00a0 \u201cMs. Reeves\u2026 sit down!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot:\u00a0 \u201cMaharet!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>*<strong>Couns. Windsor backs away from Maharet<\/strong>*<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>sitting back down at David Talbot\u2019s voice<\/strong>*\u00a0 <\/em>\u201cHouse Kemet is my house, just because this Order wishes to live in the 12<sup>th<\/sup> century makes no bearing on the fact that House Kemet has always been my house.\u00a0 Let\u2019s make that very clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>pausing for a long moment and keeping her distance<\/strong>* <\/em>\u201cUhh, so a team assembled that included members of House Kemet and House Romanus. However, negotiations between yourself and House Draconis had already been established. A time had been agreed upon, terms by which the release of Merida Douglas, would be honored. No?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cHouse Draconis had no stance to have even taken her! Tell me a reason she was taken, some rule she broke, some law that granted House Draconis the right to take my protego?!?\u00a0 I do not negotiate with common thugs! And before you tell me to answer the god damn question, the answer is NO. There was no negotiation\u2026. I gave Davido Draconis an explicit time that I expected him to release her to me or suffer my wrath. And it was that wrath that he felt that night! Be assured of it. Ask his not-so-pretty little wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>David Draco: <em>*<strong>standing up and yelling at Maharet at the mention of Zeeke<\/strong>*\u00a0 <\/em>\u201cShe\u2019s a fucking rogue, any house can take a rogue and do as they please with!\u00a0 I held her at my tower, my territory, my lands. You had no right&#8212;\u201c<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor O\u2019Connor:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>slamming his fist down<\/strong>*<\/em> \u201cSit down, Mr. Draco\u2026 immediately!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cMs. Reeves, what happened once the raid started?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cWell Khayman and I got Merida back. If you thought for a second that would come out any different, you\u2019re sadly mistaken.\u00a0 I would have killed everyone in that place to get her back, period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cBut you didn\u2019t.\u00a0 You injured but you did not kill. The killing was done by House Romanus.\u00a0 Several of House Draconis\u2019 guards and militia members, as well as the murder of Kristof Draconis.\u00a0 So in essence you yourself lost nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>snickers<\/strong>* <\/em>\u201cOur goals were not all that different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cBut they were.\u00a0 For they wanted to retrieve another. Another rogue\u2026 Carrie Parker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u00a0\u201cCarrie Parker is Merida Douglas\u2019 sire sister.\u00a0 Merida would not go without her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cBut as a rogue, we have the right to capture and contain them as we see fit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cWouldn\u2019t be the first of many laws that need revision and clarification by the High Council.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor:\u00a0 \u201cAnd you felt it was prudent to use your special talents to burn and maim, almost kill Anyala Navrokova, known as Zeeke now a days, even if Mr. Draconis was already releasing Merida to you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cYes, I did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cWhy is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cBecause it made me feel better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: <em>*<strong>smacks teeth<\/strong>* <\/em>\u201cI see.\u201d\u00a0 <em>*<strong>a long pause<\/strong>*<\/em>\u00a0 \u201cI have nothing further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Grimm: \u201cVery well, then Counselor Talbot. Cross?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>*<strong>David Talbot stood up and walked towards Maharet<\/strong>*<\/em><\/p>\n<p>~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~<\/p>\n<p>Counselor Elisa Windsor returned to her seat as David walked up to me.\u00a0 He smiled warmly.\u00a0 The age of his soul clearly shined through the young man that stood before me.\u00a0 Of course, David Talbot had been the victim of a Body Snatching incident. He was unable to get his old body back, thus had been trapped in this new body.\u00a0 Lestat had turned him to make amends, but David did not see it as hindrance at all.\u00a0 More of a gift.\u00a0 He had adjusted well. But clearly that is one of the biggest reasons that \u201cgift\u201d is forbidden from use.<\/p>\n<p>~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot:\u00a0 \u201cMs. Reeves, firstly thank you for coming to testify today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cOf course, it is my station as a progenitor to set the example.\u00a0 Right the wrongs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: <em>*<strong>smiles<\/strong>*\u00a0 <\/em>\u201cIndeed madam. I would like to start with the conversation you had with Mr. Romanus in reference to the taking of Merida.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves:\u00a0 <em>*<strong>nods<\/strong>*<\/em>\u00a0 \u201cSurely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cWhat was the reason that Mr. Romanus said Merida had been taken?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cHe explained that House Draconis was interested in the special magic that the Razele bloodline contained. That in fact that was the reason why they had taken the young Carrie Parker and Merida as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cDid you know of Miss Parker\u2019s abduction prior to Merida\u2019s own abduction?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cObjection, leading the witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Grimm: \u201cI\u2019ll allow the question. Overruled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cI did not.\u00a0 Marius only contacted me after Merida had been taken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cSo he only enlisted your assistance once it involved House Kemet?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cThat is correct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot:\u00a0 \u201cSo, in fact, House Kemet was enlisted only to help with a House Kemet issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cObjection. Talbot: \u201cWhen did you first become aware that Mr. Romanus had killed Mr. Draconis?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cWhen he and members of his family came back to our regroup point.\u00a0 He was covered in blood and Ms. Spy announced it to us as Khayman and I were tending to Merida\u2019s wounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cDid he say anything else?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cMarius? No. He didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cAnd where was Miss Parker at this point?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves: \u201cShaking like a leaf in the arms of Ms. Spy who is her sire-mother, by the way.\u00a0 Merida wrestled out of the car we had put her in and ran straight to her to wrap her arms around her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cAnd how did Miss Parker seem to you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Reeves:\u00a0 \u201cShe was in a catatonic state, clearly affected by her ordeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Talbot: \u201cWhere there any visible bruises, gashes, markings, anything of that sort that had not yet healed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns. Windsor: \u201cObjection. Leading the witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Grimm: \u201cSustained, please rephrase the question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Couns.
