Four Weeks In, Our First Mythic Kill

TWW Season 2 kicked off on March 4th and exactly 1 month in TLP’s Olympians kill Mythic Vexie & Geargrinders. And now the real work starts. The key is the consistency of downing these bosses and getting them on “farm status”. Farm status for us is killing a boss under 3 attempts, hoping for 1-shot kills more than likely.

We will tackle Cauldron of Carnage and hope to have the dueling duo down by the end of the month, moving on to Rik Reverb, which has challenged many other midcore guilds. Even those that we consider to be mid-to-hardcore have seen Rik break the guilds apart, so we’re hoping to continue to improve on Vexie & Cauldron to farm up the gear they drop. But it seems like raid gear isn’t the requirement anymore to kill bosses in a raid environment. It definitely does require us to farm Myth gear from Mythic+ Dungeons to really be able to compete with the needed DPS, mechanics, and throughput that is needed for Rik Reverb and beyond.

We will need our team to start really committing to grinding those M+ dungeons at 10 or above, which forms a real challenge for a soft-to-midcore guild that has adults with families and limited time. So we need to organize much more astutely to meet that challenge head on. The path to “Cutting Edge” is not easy at all for a guild like ours, but we are committing to trying to achieve it every season of The War Within, Midnight, and The Last Titan — the Worldsoul Saga.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

Goals for Season 2: Patch 11.1

ZzzZzZZZzzzZZZzz!

We’re all bored. Not shade, just facts! After nearly 6 months of Season 1, most of our members are past the endless grind of doing FOUR LEVELS of the same freaking raid, over and over and over and over again. But we still persevered on. We pulled in PUGs to get our 1/8, almost got 2/8 with enough of our TLP members to get actual “guild credit” (you need 11 or more to do so). But after having to suffer long waits to replace PUGs that would drop after a few wipes and the absolute dread that is all that business, many of our raiders and one of our raid leaders decided to take break; full burn out mode.

Congratulations RATEL!!

TLP’s RATEL raid group completes Alexander Savage!!!

Without a doubt, this group deserves a big round of applause for all their hard work, many late raid nights, and the challenge that comes with the highest tier of raiding competition available in FFXIV. RATEL is named after a new group of friends that combined powers with TLP under once FC heading. They now raid with us and are very valued friends. We are very proud to celebrate this accomplishment with them!!!

A big thanks goes out to all the players involved, and especially to all those who have helped lead either in the present or the past.

Verus, Mike and Reggie! THANK YOU!!!

If you’d like to raid with us in 4.0, we’ll soon be starting a linkshell for FC members that specifically want to try to get their foot into raiding for 4.0!!! Anyone regardless of level will be able to express their interest! We’ll post more info soon!

Raid Teams, Yes Plural… Teams

wow-legion-logoFor Legion, we have decided to not only continue onward and push through content with our main weekday raid team, Team Olympians… we are also going to be creating a new raid team that raids on weekends for those of us that either a) have busy work weeks or b) have alts they want to level up.  Dubbed Team Demi Gods, this raid team will run Saturdays and Sundays from 9 PM to 12 AM EST.

Rounding out our new raid team’s leadership will be Charsbarkley as Raiding Officer and Klavin as Raid Leader.  The two of them will work closely together to lead us through successful content progression. Charsbarkley will work on the roster composition, recording attendance, and working with recruitment officers to fill necessary raiding spots. Klavin will focus entirely on strategic boss progression and getting our raiders through content.  If any folks would like to join our new raid team on the weekends, please see Charsbarkley or Klavin to get on the roster’s list of try outs.

For Team Olympians, we are shifting focus from moderate raiding to semi-hardcore raiding. In doing so, there are some spots that have become or will through the course of selection become free for other raiders to apply to as some of our raiders would move to be bench players rather than roster players due to personal time constraints.  This includes myself.  The requirements to join either raid group have gone up to be 840 ilvl and an unlocked 3rd artifact relic slot. This does require members to continuously be working on their main raiding characters, even on off days.  For many of us, that’s an impossibility.  But this will allow us to push for top ranks on our server.  You’ll want to message Vitalizer or Tankymcbones to compete for a spot.

A roster spreadsheet can be found here for all to review.

Four Bosses Down in HFC, First Night In

Congratulations TLP! You guys rock. 🙂

On our first night in, for some the first time raiding content in WoW ever and for others the first time in 8 years (me included!), we managed to one-shot two bosses, two-shot the last two.  In order we downed Hellfire Assault, Iron Reaver, Kormrok, and the Hellfire Council.  The sixth boss is rather complex but I think we’ll make progress with it tonight. We did spent a good hour on it last night so I think we’ll get through it tonight.

I think after a second go (next week) in Normal, we can bump it up to Heroic depending on how much gear we farm up out of these instances.  I do know a lot of us are busier in real life than some and are not able to get into the LFRs as much or get into PvP to grind out some PvP gear to put us in the DPS checks for Heroic.  We’ll need folks closer to 700 to try Heroic, but what we could do is farm the first few bosses in Heroic, while still trying to learn the fights from Normal.  We’ll explore that possibility!

I want to specially thank Mortalsins, Danmachi, and Odie for helping to explain the fights for most of these as I was really too green to do the job all alone (Gawd I hate Raid Leading!). Everyone really did so well and I was so happy to have us go in there and synergize the way we did.  Everyone got along great and nothing major stood in our way.  What an amazing night for us as a guild! 🙂

I’ll be getting more screenshots of our guild in action tonight, and see if there are any more screenshots to add but these two are my personal best shots.  Enjoy!
