*a letter written to David Talbot from Marius de Romanus*
Dearest old friend,
I’m afraid there has been an incident that I will need your help to navigate.
As you may have heard, we engaged in hostile actions with House Draconis in the heart of London. The fire that was reported to be malfunctioning oil heating was in fact not just a fire.
It is not without cause, I assure you Dave. The Draconis family found an old world gate deep in the mountains of Iceland that links them to this world, here on Ice Isle. They have landed here and proceeded to take territory in northern Luna. They have also found out that here in Sosaria vampires are out of the coffin, unlike Earth and are running experiments on local vampires for God knows what.
One such encounter has left them intrigued. An encounter with Va’lis Razele and the vampires of his line. They took Va’lis and forced him to turn one of his favorite alums or face her death. They mean to harm and kill well enough.
Although Va’lis was released, they knew enough from that encounter to know that his blood is especially significant as it holds a line of magic not seen before, Blood Magic. He went home with his now new progeny and focused on acclimating her to this life. But they did not forget her.
Months passed and Carrie, her name is Carrie Parker, flourished. Enough for Va’lis to allow her to marry her long-time fiancé, Richard Perry, a mortal and still very much so. And they waited… Waited for Va’lis to make a mistake. Carrie was allowed to honeymoon in Tokuno Isles, which traditionally equates to Japan. It was there that they seized the opportunity. They abducted Carrie right from her honeymoon.
They needed a way to study this magic, try to decipher its power. I do not need to tell you how hungry the Draconians are for power. Carrie was a way to learn, but what they did not count on was how intertwined the Razele line was with ours. Carrie, unbeknown to them, had not fed from her sire in some time or any living sample thus her blood held few secrets of any. They decided they needed a more pure source.
This is where our angle lies, see they went to Venice — Romanus territory — and snatched Merida de Romanus. She is Armand’s wife in addition to being sired a Razele. As you know, marriages outside the coven houses rely solely on both parties being registered. This was not the case with the Razele line as they are of Sosarian origin. However, in taking her they effectively took action against the oldest house in the Talamasca, House Kemet. How so? Well Merida is currently bonded to Maharet. Maharet’s lineage lands squarely on Merida.
Our defense will be that we aided and assisted House Kemet in retrieval of their illegally abducted protégó and we rescued all that we could in the process. Kirk Draco was simply a casualty of a family feud between House Draconis and House Kemet; not House Romanus specifically. That Maharet sent word to her allies and we responded in kind. Maharet is prepared to give that statement to the council.
What I need from you is one, rush the registration paperwork for the Razele line under House Romanus which offers his bloodline protection under House Romanus… And two) back us when we present the case I’ve described above and convince the council of our position.
In a perfect world I would also ask that any marriage offer the same protection as the spouse with it under the Order regardless of which house or bloodline is presented and also ask that women be able to declare themselves as Head of House. The Talamasca is antiquated in their thinking. Maharet certainly is just as capable of it more so than Khayman but because of the laws only Khayman can be Head of House. Does that seem fair to you?
