My time at the orphanage has been short, but feels like an eternity. I’ve made new friends, Rowan, Britney, Frisco and Zachary. The director, Miss Merida has been an angel to me. I tend to shy away from men, I still don’t trust them much. Funny…given my best friend is Ariok Razele. We almost dated, but it felt awkward, and I can always trust him to give me a helping hand when I need it. Or if I’m too stubborn to ask.
I managed to hide away enough coin to get me a small fishing boat, late at night when everyone was asleep I would go to a dock and sail off into the open waters. I loved fishing, it was a big part of me that I can never forget. The water calmed me and my raging thoughts. One night I slipped away to Britain’s docks and began to climb aboard, three grown men approached me, “ello poppet…’ow bout ye and me mates ‘Ave ah bit o’ fun…?” I was petrified. I froze in place and could do nothing. I didn’t know how to fight, I had no magic to help me. I panicked! it was then I heard a soft soothing voice. “If I were you, I’d leave the girl alone….or else things might get messy….” it was a boy, my age at least. His hair was dark but his eyes, oh his eyes were brilliant blue. He stood as tall as a man, 6’3″ at least. His body was built, I could tell that through his school shirt. He was a Britain student. He came close to me and faced the men, suddenly their eyes were filled with terror and they booked it. He then turned to me with a smile, I felt my knees shake.
“You alright? Don’t be afraid, my names Ivan, who might you be?” I could only wisper my name…”Amira…w..who were those men…?” Ivan chuckled, “a couple of thieving pirates that roam around here. A pretty girl like you shouldn’t be out by yourself, you could get hurt.” I suddenly went on the defensive. “For your information…I had the situation handled! I don’t need a troll to help me!” I stomped onto my boat, and sailed off…but not before I caught the hottest grin I’ve ever seen. Dammit I’m in trouble.
Days passed and every time I set sail he was there. Helping me with my boat, making sure I set out and got back safely. I learned that he was Ivan Vale. Piper Vale’s son. I began to trust him more and more, and we swiftly became friends. He also enjoyed fishing so he would come out with me at times, it was three weeks ago since I met him, I’m glad he rescued me.
One night he actually walked me back to the orphanage and we sat down on the stairs and just talked for hours. I told him all about my life, he held my hand and gave it a squreze. “I’m sorry that happened to you, I will make sure this never happens again. You’re too beautiful a girl to be abused in such a way.” He kissed my hand and my heart fluttered. Oh god what was I getting into?
I introduced him to Rowan and Ariok. Ariok had a look I knew well…defensiveness.. he would jump in the line of an arrow for me I knew. Rowan was the same. I loved them both dearly. Everything went well that night and before I knew it..he asked me on a date. I said yes. After he left, it all came crashing down on me. The hell am I thinking!? This is too soon! I voiced my thoughts and suddenly..I gasped. “I don’t have a thing to wear!!” Rowan and Ariok could only laugh at me. Ariok smiled, “Get your things together and come on. I’ll buy you a new dress.” My stubborn pride got to me, “No, but thanks. I can find something.” After a lot of begging from Ariok I finally caved. As we were about to leave a woman with black hair and the most crystal blur eyes approached me. “Amira…oui? A young man came to me and had me make this for you..” she handed me the job and walked away with a smile. Confused I opened the box and found a beautiful red dress and matching heels.
I nearly died.
He knew I would say yes…he knew I needed a dress…the troll! Soon Miss Piper herself came and found us. She figured out it was me who Ivan asked out and demanded I put on the dress and parade it for her to see…I did so. I dressed up my hair in the Nujel’m fashion noble women wear, with my make up to match. I had to admit I looked damn beautiful.
That night Ivan picked me up, dressed to match in a handsome suit. I was so nervous I couldn’t handle it. My knees quaked, when he touched me my heart skipped a beat. What was wrong with me? He took me to a beautiful fancy restaurant outside of Britain. We talked about everything…his school…his family..my crafts and my likes. He seemed very interested in helping me learn to read and write better. I never smiled so hard in my life. After dinner we walked around town as he held my hand. We sat in the park and watched the stars in silence…before I knew it, his lips met mine. Stars, I saw stars and felt a heat I never felt before…I figured it out. I’m in love…
